Medically Ultra-Riche lip shading can be used to camouflage scars in the lips; cleft palates; bi-tone lip pigment or spot pigment loss. NOT recommended for clients with active vitiligo.

What to Expect After the Procedure
One of the best parts of semi-permanent lip tattooing is that there’s no downtime! Before, during, and immediately after the procedure, we apply proprietary numbing creams to ensure you remain comfortable. By the time you leave, you’ll look fantastic, and your lips will be beautifully enhanced. Immediately following the procedure, you may notice your lip color appears darker or more vivid than anticipated — even if we use natural tones. Think of it as a “deeper evening” lip shade. This is completely normal and part of the tattoo process. As the surface layer of pigment heals, it will lightly exfoliate over the next 3 to 7 days, revealing a lighter, softer shade beneath. The final color will continue to develop from the deeper layers of the skin and move up to settle over the next 6 to 8 weeks. The final healed color will always be about 30-50% lighter than the initial appearance.
Perfection Sessions – Artistry Touch-Ups
While touch-ups aren’t always necessary with lip procedures, we recognize that tattooing is living art and every client’s lips are unique. That’s why we offer a Perfection Session option within 90 days of your initial procedure to refine and perfect your color and artistry if needed. This follow-up session can be used to brighten the color, add more definition, or make small adjustments.
Preparing for Your Lip Procedure
Pre-treat your skin – For optimal results, gently exfoliate and moisturize your lips in the days leading up to your appointment. A lip scrub or facial exfoliant will help remove any dry or dead skin buildup, giving us a smooth canvas to work with. DO NOT USE CHAPSTICK to moisturize. Olive oil or Vitamin E are two products that you can use to soften and hydrate dry skin.
Fever Blisters? If you have ever experienced fever blisters or cold sores, we recommend consulting with your physician before your appointment. You will need a prescription for Valtrex or a similar medication. Begin the medication 5 days before your procedure and continue for 5 days afterward to minimize the risk of an outbreak. Please ask your physician to prescribe a suppression dosage.
Lip Fillers? If you’ve recently had lip fillers, we recommend that you wait two-weeks before undergoing any lip tattoo procedure to give your lips ample time to recover from the filler injections. Alternatively, if you wish to get your lip tattoo done first, that can actually assist your injector by providing better definition to your lip shape. If you have your Lip Tattoo first, we recommend waiting two-weeks before scheduling any lip filler treatments.
Post-Care Instructions
Proper aftercare is key to ensuring your lips heal beautifully and maintain their vibrant color. Follow these simple instructions to promote optimal healing:
⦁ Moisturize with Aquaphor: Apply Aquaphor Lip Therapy ointment regularly to keep your lips hydrated and to help the color heal evenly. Use it as needed for two-weeks following your procedure. You can purchase at most drug stores and on line. Avoid using Chapstick or wax lip balms.
⦁ Cleanse Gently: As your lips begin to exfoliate in the first week, clean them gently using water and a soft washcloth. Avoid scrubbing or rubbing your lips too harshly while healing.
⦁ Avoid Cosmetic Lip Products: Refrain from using lipstick or lip liner on your tattooed lips for two-weeks after your procedure.
⦁ Sun & Activities: For two-weeks avoid sunbathing, suntan beds, pools or saltwater (where your face is fully submerged in the water) to ensure proper healing. For long-term color retention, always wear sunscreen (SPF 15 or higher) on the lips after the tattoo has healed to protect color from pre-mature fading.
Are You a Good Candidate for This Service?
While semi-permanent lip tattooing is a safe and effective procedure for most people, there are some conditions and circumstances that may prevent you from being a suitable candidate. These include:
⦁ Active cold sores or fever blisters: If you are currently experiencing an outbreak, it’s essential to address this before undergoing the procedure.
⦁ Certain skin conditions: If you have active vitiligo or other conditions affecting your lip pigmentation, you may not be a candidate for the procedure. It is best to consult with a professional and our staff before booking.
⦁ Pregnancy or breastfeeding: Women who are pregnant should wait until 6 weeks post-delivery to undergo the procedure. There are no known contraindications for breastfeeding women, but it’s always recommended to consult with your doctor first.
⦁ Individuals with darker lips or a strong melanin concentration in their lips (Fitzpatrick Skin Tones 4 – 6) will need to submit a photo for evaluation before scheduling their lip tattoo procedure. This helps us to determine if you’re a good candidate for lip tattoo treatments.
